Choosing garden, orchard and forestry machines by job and power source
This category covers the handheld, walk-behind and remote-controlled machines that keep lawns, orchards, estates and small woodlots in working order, together with the gear that moves timber out. Buyers usually choose by job: cutting grass, clearing leaves and thatch, cutting wood and vegetation, chipping prunings and grinding stumps, hauling logs, and orchard tasks such as digging holes, driving posts and frost protection. The second choice is the power source. Petrol, mains, battery platforms from 20V to 62V and hybrid engine-plus-motor drives all appear here, and each one changes what the quotation has to include.
For lawns, the smallest machine is the DAYEE DY13-900-00, a 900 W corded mower cutting 320 mm, with Turbo's TBE corded models running from 320 to 440 mm. Petrol walk-behind choices include the Dobest DB8721S with a 21-inch cut, a 170 cc engine and side-discharge, mulching and bag modes, the Joyer JT1620HP three-wheel family at 42 cm, and Sinharbour's HG48 at 48 cm; TPT's TPLM38DC20 runs on two 20V batteries instead. Orchard rows, banks and rough grass call for remote crawler mowers: the Changxu 4GY-550QA (550 mm, 147 kg, a listed 0–30 degree slope), the Speedy SPY-550 (55 cm, 136 kg), DAYEE's twin-cylinder DY330-764SB-00 with an 838 mm cut, and the diesel DAYEE DY400-815SB-00 with a 1000 mm swing-blade cutter at 525 kg net. On these machines the slope limit, remote distance and how the controller stops the machine matter as much as cutting width.
Leaf and turf work splits by power and size. The DAYEE CXD1600 is a 230 V hand-push collector with a 45 L bag; the DY580-1600S-00 runs on two 8 Ah packs and drives itself at 3.6 km/h; the petrol DY780-212S-00 has a 212 cc engine, a 78 cm width and a 240 L bag, and takes scarifier, brush and hose kits. The Turbo gasoline scarifier takes spring-wire and steel-blade cylinders for thatch, and the HAIDAO H36 BBL-0 blower clears paths and orchard lanes at up to 86 m/s.
For cutting, petrol chainsaws run from the Remo RM-CS3800H (38 cc, 1.3 kW, 11.5 to 14 inch bars) to the Boer BEZZ-581 (54 cc, 2.5 kW, 18- or 20-inch bars). Cordless saws include the HAIDAO H36 CS40-401C with a 400 mm guide and JOYWAY's JW-ECS6016 with a 16-inch bar. Brush cutters range from the PASSION PS-BC260A at 25.4 cc to the BONA BN500C at 52 cc and 1.75 kW, with Remo's nine RM-BC models between them. Pruning at height suits HAIDAO's RHBS-402FC2 pole saw, and close orchard and vine work suits the SUCA SC-8602Y shears, rated for hard branches up to 21 mm and soft ones up to 30 mm. For replacement heads, the Hausys DL-1201 head fits a spindle through one of seven left-hand adaptors, with line sold by profile and diameter.
Prunings go to a chipper sized to the branch. The Superpower CPY0130 is a 230 V, 2.5 kW electric shredder for garden waste; Speedy's SPY-10 and the Changxu CXC-701-1E are petrol orchard chippers, the latter listing 3 to 100 mm branches and 800–1000 kg/hour. The Speedy SPY-SG15 grinds stumps to 300 mm below ground. To move timber, the Scandi 4W-A01A log trailer carries a listed 1000 kg, the Grapple Crane 450 adds a 4.4 m arm that lifts 200 kg at full reach, and Scandi's 4W-A07 is a hand-crank winch frame. On steep slopes the Lihao MF-200M monorail carries a 200 kg load on rack-and-pinion rail, with uphill and downhill angles set by the engine mounting.
Orchard set-up has its own tools: JOYWAY petrol earth drills with augers from 100 to 300 mm, the Sharp PD82XPM post driver for posts up to 80 mm at up to 1,850 blows per minute, SUCA's SC-9601 and SC-9701 branch-tying tools, Remo's 12 L battery sprayer, and the Sanxin SX-FSD15-360 frost fan, a 3.7 kW, 380 V unit with a stated 7.5 mu protected area. Whatever the job, describe the material and site first: branch size and species, stump size, grass height and slope, post profile and soil, or log length and route. Then fix the power package (engine code or battery voltage, number of packs and chargers) and the cutting or working kit, and have any figure the maker prints in two versions settled as one value in the quotation.

Line up quotations for machines that do the same job at the same size, and price each one as a complete working kit: engine or battery packs and charger, plus the bar and chain, blade or line head, adaptors, sleeves or augers that ship in the box. Where a page prints two values, such as the CPY0130 branch limit or the CXC-701-1E capacity, ask each supplier to name the one it quotes against. Compare remote mowers on slope limit, remote range and run time under load, and trailers and cranes on the load chart at your reach and the hitch. Then weigh spare parts, manuals and service terms for your market alongside unit price.
