Remo RM-US3A 20V Universal Spreader

The Remo RM-US3A is a 20V handheld universal spreader. Remo's diagram names six parts: a spreading quantity dial, an on/off switch, the material container, a speed controller, a spreading angle controller and the spreader wheel. Quantity, speed and angle are set separately. Remo publishes no hopper volume, spreading width, battery capacity or rate chart, so plan to set the rate on your own material and ask Remo for those figures with the quotation.

Build my procurement brief

The six labelled parts of the RM-US3A

Remo's control diagram numbers six parts. Three of them are adjustments: quantity on the handle, and speed and angle lower down. Each one changes a different thing, so record all three whenever you set the machine. If you also sell liquid treatments, the RM-SPL12A battery sprayer is Remo's matching battery tool.

Part in Remo's diagramWhat it does and what to ask
1. Spreading quantity settingNumbered dial on the handle side. Ask for the gate opening or the discharge at each number for your material.
2. On/off switchSeparate switch near the handle. Ask whether it is a simple switch or has any dosing or auto-off function.
3. Material containerThe upper hopper. Ask for its volume and maximum loaded weight.
4. Speed controllerLower control named for speed. Ask what it drives, its range and how it changes the pattern.
5. Spreading angle controllerLower control named for spreading angle. Ask for the angle range and a drawing of the throw direction.
6. Spreader wheelThe part at the outlet below the container. Ask for effective width and pattern data on your granule.

Published specifications

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

SpecificationPublished valueMeaning / limit
Product identityRM-US3A; 20V universal spreader [1]Model and voltage as Remo labels them. Ask whether 20V is nominal or maximum and which packs fit.
Control diagramSix named components; quantity, speed and angle separately labelled [3]Dial numbers are positions. Remo gives no kg per minute or kg per area chart for them.
ContainerMaterial container shown without volume or load limit [1] [2] [3]Ask for litres, maximum load, granule size range and the list of approved materials.
Spreading mechanismComponent labelled “spreader wheel” below the container [3]The outlet part. Remo lists no speed, width or pattern for it.
Battery performanceNo Ah, charge time or run time published [1]Request capacity, charge time and run time for the pack Remo supplies.

Setting a rate for your material

Remo does not publish a setting chart for the RM-US3A. Plan to work out the dial, speed and angle settings for each seed, granule or mix you sell it for.

UGA Extension's guide to dry spreaders separates two jobs: rate calibration, which is how much lands on a measured area, and distribution calibration, which is how evenly it lands. Density and particle shape change the rate, so calibration holds for one material at a time. The pattern also shifts with the machine and how it is used. The guide is written for tractor spreaders, so use its principles and set your own test layout for a handheld unit.

Ask Remo to support a trial on your actual material. Record the material, the quantity, speed and angle settings, how the operator walks, and the measured mass over a measured area together with the spread pattern. Use the pattern to decide pass spacing so that neighbouring passes neither leave gaps nor double up.

Hopper, battery and handling details to request

The product image shows a top-handle unit with the hopper above the spreading mechanism. Remo gives no empty or loaded weight, and no capacity or battery figures, so ask for the items below before choosing a model or quantity.

Detail to requestWhy you need it
Container volume and maximum loadVolume and permitted load for your material. A hopper of fixed volume holds different weights of different materials.
Approved materials and feedingParticle sizes, dry or moist condition and any restricted products, plus Remo's advice on clogging and corrosion.
20V pack and chargerPack interface, voltage basis, Ah rating, what is in the box and approved replacement packs.
Run time on a stated taskRun time measured with your feed and speed settings, so you can estimate area per charge.
Handling and careInstructions for carrying, filling, clearing, cleaning and storage, and any straps or guards supplied.

Sample record for repeat orders

Keep one record per material and configuration. If you stock a wider Remo line for lawn and garden customers, the RM-BC gasoline brush cutters can be quoted from the same factory. When the battery, granule or a setting changes, run the check again. Spreaders and other lawn-care machines from different factories are on our garden and forestry page.

  1. Record the unit

RM-US3A label, container and load limit, approved pack and charger, and the items in the box.

  2. Record material and settings

Material name and condition; quantity, speed and angle settings noted one by one.

  3. Run the agreed trial

Use a method agreed with Remo: measured discharge per area and the spread pattern under your conditions. Set test spacing for a handheld unit rather than copying tractor figures from the UGA guide.

  4. Keep repeat-order records

Current instructions, spare-part codes and support terms, plus the trial results for each material.

Buyer questions

Does the quantity dial give a fertiliser dose?

The dial numbers are positions only. Remo gives no dose chart, so measure the output per area for your material at the settings you plan to use. [1] [3]

Are speed and spreading angle the same adjustment?

They are separate controllers in Remo's diagram. Ask Remo for each one's range and how it changes the pattern. [3]

Will it spread any seed or granule?

Remo calls it universal but gives no approved-material list or particle-size range. Name your material and ask Remo to confirm it in writing. [1] [4]

Can I use a 20V battery from another tool?

Remo publishes no battery interface or compatibility list. Ask which packs and chargers are approved before mixing tools. [1]
