Sharp PD82XPM Portable Post Driver
The Sharp PD82XPM is a self-contained portable post driver from the PD Master and X-series range. It weighs 20.4 kg, delivers up to 1,850 blows per minute and takes posts, pipe, rod and stakes up to 80 mm in diameter. It ships with a Post Master drive cap and a 63 mm poly sleeve, and is advertised with a Honda GX35 engine. Choose it by how well your post shape, sleeve and ground match this build, then confirm the engine and warranty on the quotation.

Build my procurement briefFitting your posts: cap and sleeve
Sharp names Post Master Plus posts, pipe, rod and stakes as suitable material. The slotted steel barrel takes material up to 80 mm in diameter. Non-round posts and different materials each need their own check.
Send Sharp the post cross-section, wall and material, top shape, driving depth and any cap you already use. The standard 63 mm poly sleeve and Post Master cap should match that profile. Ask Sharp to recommend the adapter and clearance for your post; a post smaller than 80 mm can still sit loose in the wrong sleeve.

Blow rate, ground and real output
The 1,850 blows per minute figure is the hammer's top speed. Sharp gives no impact energy, test ground, post size, depth or cycle time with it. Sharp also says the PD82XPM drives posts in half the time of a manual driver.
To know what you will get, describe your ground, the risk of stones or obstructions, post type, depth and job layout. Ask Sharp for the operating limits and plan a demonstration on similar ground. Record handling, alignment, the finished result and the full cycle time per post, and plan your crew output from those numbers. On ground too stony for driving, you may instead compare boring post holes with the JOYWAY JW-DR520 Petrol Earth Drill.

The engine and the driver controls
The model page advertises the Honda GX35, while its opening list mentions a Chinese-engine option as well. Ask Sharp which engine your unit has. Honda's GX35 page describes a 35.8 cm³ four-stroke OHC petrol engine with 1.0 kW (1.3 HP) net power at 7,000 rpm. Those figures describe the engine; the driver's impact output depends on the whole tool.
Sharp lists recoil starting, a trigger throttle, an automatic-reset stop button, sealed bearings, Viton O-rings and damping springs in the handles. Ask for the complete driver manual with vibration and noise values, and the engine documents for the unit you receive.
Warranty, weight on site and service
Sharp gives the hammer a limited lifetime warranty and says Honda covers the engine. Full conditions, exclusions, the claim route and regional eligibility are not published. A unit with the Chinese engine needs its own engine warranty terms.
At 20.4 kg, check the handling and operating limits in the manual and plan the work accordingly. Sharp says the driver needs no hoses or compressor; fuel, maintenance and transport still need instructions at handover. Sharp lists a US office; ask whether stock and authorised repair are available near you. Buyer questions
Can the PD82XPM drive any 80 mm post?
80 mm is the largest diameter the barrel takes. Send Sharp your post profile, material and ground so it can recommend the sleeve and confirm the duty. [1]
How many posts per hour can I expect?
Sharp publishes a blow rate of up to 1,850 per minute and no hourly output. Measure cycle time per post in a trial on your ground. [1]
