Changxu 4GY-550QA Tracked Remote Mower

The Changxu 4GY-550QA is a remote-controlled tracked mower for orchards, embankments and rough grass. A 7.5 HP petrol engine drives the 550 mm cutting deck, and a 24 V 600 W electric motor moves the tracks at up to 6 km/h. It weighs 147 kg, measures 1050 × 850 × 600 mm and lists a 0–30 degree working slope. The Chinese and English manuals reverse the deck-lift buttons, so ask Changxu for the current transmitter diagram, wiring schedule and slope limits before ordering.

How the hybrid drive works

Changxu's description splits the job in two: the engine powers the blades, and an electric drive moves the machine. The battery figure therefore covers travel only. In a demonstration, watch both power systems, the cutting load, the travel pattern and how the mower stops.

The 550 mm cutting width helps you plan passes between trees and obstacles. Overlap, turns, uneven ground and thick growth all reduce real output. Compare your narrowest corridor with the 850 mm machine width, and ask Changxu whether anything sticks out further in working position. For a second tracked option to measure against your corridors, look at the Speedy SPY-550 Tracked Remote Mower.

Published specifications

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

SpecificationPublished valueMeaning / limit
Overall dimensions1050 × 850 × 600 mm [1] [2]Length × width × height. Ask for transport size and the size with the deck lowered.

Height settingsAdjustment height 40–110 mm; cutting height 20–150 mm [1] [2]Changxu lists both ranges without explaining how they relate. Ask for a drawing.
Travel speed / slope0–6 km/h / 0–30 degrees [1] [2]No ground, load, slope direction or stability-test conditions are given.

Starting / fuel useManual and electric starting; 1.5 L/hour fuel consumption [1] [2]Ask which starters come fitted and the load behind the fuel figure.
Stored-energy run time1.5 hours [1] [2]No load or duty test is given. Ask whether it covers travel only or travel and mowing together.

Remote control: settle the button map

The Chinese instructions say button 3 lowers the deck and button 4 raises it. The English instructions say the reverse. Ask Changxu for the current transmitter diagram and manual for the serial range you are buying.

Also ask for the stop command, the emergency-stop layout, what happens if the signal drops, and where the operator should stand. Radio range and fail-safe behaviour are not published. Check them yourself at handover. Put the same signal-loss and stop questions if the DAYEE DY210-224SB-00 Remote Crawler Mower is also on your shortlist.

Battery, motor and charger

The electrical figures leave gaps. Ask these questions about the values printed for this model.

Listed figureWhat to ask
12 V 12 Ah batteryHow many packs, which chemistry, usable capacity, where they mount and the replacement part number.
24 V 600 W motorHow many motors, rated and peak conditions, controller specification and power supply.
Electric travel, engine-driven cuttingWhether the engine charges the battery while working, what stops when either source runs out, and the shutdown sequence.
1.5-hour run timeTravel only or mowing too, the terrain, duty cycle, deck load and what ended the test.

Height settings and slopes

Changxu lists an adjustment height of 40–110 mm and a cutting height of 20–150 mm. The pages do not explain how deck lift relates to finished grass height. Ask for a drawing showing where height is measured and which settings apply with the quoted blades and tracks.

Treat the 30-degree figure as a catalogue maximum. Ask which slope directions and surfaces Changxu allows, then assess your own site and agree a demonstration. Roots, hidden stones, wet grass and bank edges all change the job, and the catalogue gives no obstacle clearance or stopping distance.

Blades and service parts

The description mentions a thickened blade holder and two blades. The underside drawing shows the layout, but gives no part number, blade material, bolt pattern or tightening torque. Order replacements from Changxu's parts drawing and the actual blade and holder numbers.

Ask for service instructions covering the blades, any belts or couplings, the tracks, the drive and the controller. Also ask which spare parts come with the mower and which wear parts it shares with Changxu's other models. The other Changxu machine on this site is the CXC-701-1E orchard branch chipper, useful if the same order covers prunings.

Buyer questions

Can the 4GY-550QA mow for 1.5 hours?

Changxu lists 1.5 hours of stored energy with no duty conditions. The engine drives the blades, so ask for a run time measured with mowing and travel together. [1] [2]

Which remote button raises the deck?

The Chinese and English manuals disagree. Use the transmitter diagram Changxu supplies with your machine and test it at handover. [1] [2]

How many batteries does it use?

Changxu lists a 12 V 12 Ah battery and a 24 V motor, with no battery count or wiring diagram. Ask for the electrical build and charger. [1] [2]

Is it safe on any slope up to 30 degrees?

The pages give no slope direction, surface or stability conditions. Ask Changxu for its slope rules in writing and try it on your ground. [1] [2]

Demonstration and acceptance

Base acceptance on your field job. Use the catalogue to frame the questions, and get the answers for your site and shipment from Changxu. Further orchard and garden machines are gathered in our garden and forestry section.

  1. Identify the machine

Record the engine and nameplate, battery layout, transmitter, cutting parts and working dimensions.

  2. Get the documents

One consistent button map, the height-setting drawing, allowed operating conditions and maintenance instructions.

  3. Watch it work

Use agreed vegetation and ground. Record the cut, travel, stops and how both power systems hold up.

  4. Confirm service

Match blade, track and electrical part numbers. Agree manuals, inspection records, packing and written service terms.
