Sanxin SX-FSD15-360 Rotating Frost Fan

The Sanxin SX-FSD15-360 is a rotating frost-protection fan for orchards and tea gardens. It has a 3.7 kW motor on a three-phase, four-wire 380 V supply and runs under automatic control. Sanxin states a protected area of 7.5 mu. How much a frost fan protects depends on the site, so start with your frost history and temperature profile, then ask Sanxin for an installation proposal covering tower height, controls, sensors and the conditions behind the area figure.

Build my procurement brief

Check your frost site before relying on 7.5 mu

FAO's frost-protection guide explains that wind machines mix down warmer air already present above the crop. How much they help depends on the temperature inversion and local conditions. That makes a temperature survey of your site the first step.

Sanxin's model page gives no minimum temperature, wind condition, inversion profile or crop results behind the 7.5 mu figure. Ask for a proposal for your site and the conditions under which the area was measured. Agree any temperature or crop outcome in writing before you buy.

Published specifications

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

SpecificationPublished valueMeaning / limit
Model / movementSX-FSD15-360 rotating frost-protection fan [1]A different model from the oscillating SX-FSD15-120. Ask for the rotation details.
SupplyThree-phase, four-wire; 380 V [1]Printed as 3~380 V. Ask for the frequency, control circuit and protection devices.
Motor3.7 kW [1]Motor power. Temperature lift and crop protection depend on the site.
ControlAutomatic [1]Ask which sensors, set-points, alarms and backup the automatic control uses.
Stated area7.5 mu; source defines 1 mu = 0.0667 ha [1]Sanxin gives no site or weather conditions for this figure; ask for them.
Installation / performanceHeight, foundation, airflow and temperature response not listed [1]Request these in the installation proposal.

What automatic control should include

The model page says only Automatic. A frost night needs a full control set-up, so ask Sanxin to define each part.

System itemWhat to define
Temperature sensingSensors, where they sit, data logging, and who decides when the fan starts.
Fan movementRotation timing, positioning and the drive that turns the head.
Electrical packageSupply frequency, starting and control circuit, and whether the panel and protection are included.
Fault / outageAlarms, what happens on a fault, and any backup or service cover.

Tower, foundation and surroundings

The data sheet gives no mounting height, tower or foundation drawing, weight, airflow curve or installed dimensions. Send Sanxin your field layout, canopy height, obstacles, access, power supply and the distance to neighbours. Ask the offer to state who handles the structure, the electrics and the installation.

Sanxin helped draft a national fan-noise test standard, but the page gives no noise figure for this model. Ask for a sound measurement and the maintenance access plan for your site, along with foundation dimensions, cable sizing and the start temperature.

Other Sanxin frost fans

Sanxin's agricultural catalogue includes other rotating and oscillating frost fans and an earlier SX-FSD55 development project. Results from those models belong to them. Ask for trial data on the SX-FSD15-360 itself to support its 7.5 mu figure.

Request the data sheet for the revision you are offered, an installation plan and frost-night response records. Sanxin's innovation status and standards work describe the company; the fan on your site needs its own acceptance test.

From site check to seasonal support

Compare frost fans on site fit and the operating plan as well as motor power. Our note on orchard frost fan coverage explains how to check a stated area against the inversion on your own site.

  1. Check the site

Frost history, temperature profile, field and canopy, and a suitability assessment.

  2. Set installation scope

Fan revision, tower and foundation, electrics and controls, and who does each.

  3. Agree acceptance

Weather and test conditions, temperature response across the block, and control and fault functions.

  4. Plan seasonal support

Manual, inspection and maintenance parts, alarm support and a written warranty.

Buyer questions

Will the fan cover 7.5 mu in any orchard or tea garden?

Sanxin gives no weather or site conditions for that figure. Ask for a proposal for your site and response data that applies to it. [1]

At what temperature does automatic control start the fan?

The model page gives no sensor, control logic or start temperature. Ask Sanxin to set these out for your crop in writing. [1]
