SCANDI 4W-A07 Log Winch

SCANDI's 4W-A07 log winch is a wheeled towing frame with a raised boom, rope, hook and hand crank for handling logs. SCANDI lists 70 kg net weight, a 700 kg Max Loading figure, a 2445 × 1180 × 1900 mm frame and 22x11-8 tyres. The illustration shows a hand-crank winch with no powered tractor drive. Before you buy, ask SCANDI what the 700 kg covers, the rated line pull for your setup, and the towing limits, and describe the logs and ground you work on.

What the 700 kg Max Loading covers

SCANDI heads the 700 kg figure Max Loading. The page does not say where the load sits, how it is lifted, where timber rests or which way it is pulled. A drum line pull, a hanging load at each boom position and a towed mass are all different numbers, so ask SCANDI which one 700 kg is.

Start from your job: positioning a log, raising one end, carrying timber on the frame or moving it along a track. If timber has to travel any distance, the 4W-A01A log trailer from the same maker is built for carrying. Ask SCANDI for the rating that applies to that use, with the full load path and how attachments connect. The boom and hook in the photo show how much the setup changes the answer.

Ask SCANDI, too, for the largest log diameter, log weight and slope it allows for your build. Our farm winch and log trailer notes explain how to tell a line pull from a lifting rating when you compare offers.

Winch, rope, frame and hitch: what to ask about each

SCANDI's photo shows a hand crank, a drum-like unit, a rope routed over the boom and a hook above the wheeled frame. Ask for drawings and ratings of each part for the build you order.

Part seen in the photo or listedWhat to get from SCANDI
Winch drive and brakeThe exact winch model, rated load and line conditions, drum size and how the load is held and released. SCANDI publishes no motor output, gear ratio or rated pull.
Rope, hook and boomRope length and diameter, end fittings, hook and accessory models, and a load-path drawing with each part's rating.
Timber support and tie-downThe photo shows upright supports and a strap. Ask what restraint is supplied and where the load should sit.
Hitch and towing vehicleCoupling dimensions, approved towing vehicle and load, route and operating conditions, hitch vertical load, brakes and towing speed.
Wheels and tyresSCANDI lists 22x11-8. Ask for wheel and tyre load and pressure figures, and the stability limits on slopes.

Lifting, extraction and felling: safety guidance and CE documents

The UK HSE's guidance on lifting equipment in forestry separates machines that lift or lower loads from equipment used for extraction without lifting. It also notes that load information can change with configuration. The guidance applies in the UK. Use it as a checklist when asking SCANDI which operation and load path the 4W-A07 is built for. For repeated lifting of logs onto a trailer, SCANDI's Grapple Crane 450 log trailer is the hydraulic option.

A separate HSE page on winches covers directional felling and assisted takedown, and leaves timber extraction and towing outside its scope. SCANDI's page names neither felling nor vehicle recovery as uses for the 4W-A07; ask SCANDI before using it for either.

The product photo carries CE artwork. Ask SCANDI for the declaration of conformity for this model, the standards it lists and the test records behind it, together with the documents required in your country.

Drawings, load terms and shipping for your order

The frame size and container counts help pin down an offer. Ask SCANDI to answer each point below for the exact 4W-A07 build you buy.

  1. Configuration drawing

The 2445 × 1180 × 1900 mm frame with boom, hook and load positions, clearances and connection details. Ask for the maximum safe hook height.

  2. Load terms

What the700 kg loading figure means and under what conditions, the supported task, line and holding arrangement and restraint. Ask for lifted, supported and towed ratings one by one.

  3. Logs and ground

Send typical log size and condition and your terrain, and ask SCANDI for its limits on slope, travel speed and pulling force for that setup.

  4. Shipping and service

Packed configuration, gross weight, assembly and maintenance instructions, and rated spare winch, rope and coupling parts. Confirm the packing plan on a current quotation.

Buyer questions

Is 700 kg the winch line pull?

SCANDI labels it Max Loading without saying how it was rated. Ask for the line-pull rating and load path in writing. [1]

Can the 4W-A07 be driven by a tractor?

SCANDI lists no PTO, hydraulic or electric drive. The photo shows a hand crank; ask SCANDI to confirm the mechanism you will receive. [1] [2]

Is 2445 mm the longest log it can carry?

2445 mm is the frame's overall length. Ask SCANDI for the maximum log length it supports. [1]

Does the HSE directional-felling guidance apply to towing logs?

That guidance leaves timber extraction and towing out of its scope. Ask SCANDI for operating instructions written for this machine. [4]
