Tea processing
Sunyoung 6CR Tea Rollers
Sunyoung's 6CR rollers twist fixed or withered tea leaves into strips. The maker's table covers six machines, from the copper 6CR-30 at ≥4 kg per batch and 0.37 kW up to the stainless 6CR-75 at ≥100 kg per batch and 5.5 kW. Rows differ in material, motor, batch size, footprint and whether pressure comes from a single or double arm. Pick by batch size and arm type, then work out hourly line output from a timed trial with your own leaf, because the table gives batch figures only.

Batch figures keep Sunyoung's ≥ sign. Dimensions are length × width × height in millimetres as printed.
| Model / material / motor | Batch / size / pressure arm |
|---|---|
| 6CR-30 / copper /0.37 kW | ≥4 kg/batch; 1065 ×860 ×706 mm; single arm. |
| 6CR-35 / stainless steel /0.55 kW | ≥7 kg/batch; 1100 ×1000 ×1020 mm; single arm. |
| 6CR-40 / stainless steel /1.1 kW | ≥10 kg/batch; 1200 ×1100 ×1200 mm; single arm. |
| 6CR-55 / stainless steel /2.2 kW | ≥30 kg/batch; 1410 ×1365 ×1420 mm; listed as single/double arm, so name the one you want. |
| 6CR-65 / stainless steel /4.0 kW | ≥55 kg/batch; 1750 ×1400 ×1580 mm; double arm. |
| 6CR-75 / stainless steel /5.5 kW | ≥100 kg/batch; 1860 ×1650 ×1925 mm; double arm. |

What decides the strip you get
Sunyoung links the rolling result to time and pressure, and to leaf moisture, tenderness, how pressure is applied, and whether the leaf was withered or reconditioned enough. The number, spacing and curve of the rolling ribs also play a part. The page gives no single pressure and time programme for every tea. Buyers who want the loading and pressing done without an operator can compare the 6CRZ-55 automatic tea rolling module from the same maker.
Send a representative leaf sample with the tea you make, how it was treated upstream and the strip you want. Ask Sunyoung to roll it on the chosen model, and agree beforehand how strip tightness, broken leaf and the overall effect will be scored. The maker describes low breakage; ask for a measured figure on your leaf grade and moisture.

From kg per batch to kg per hour
Capacity is printed per batch. Even the ≥55 kg or ≥100 kg rows leave open how many full batches fit in an hour and how much dry tea leaves the line, so build the line rate from a measured cycle. Where rolling sits between fixation and drying, and how a line is sized around it, is covered in our tea machinery by stage guide.
Fix the weighing basis
Say whether the batch weight is fixed or withered leaf, with its actual condition, and keep it apart from dried tea weight.
Time a full cycle
Charging, the agreed rolling sequence, unloading and any changeover. Sunyoung publishes no cycle time, so measure it.
Link the next machines
Plan how rolled leaf reaches deblocking, shaping or drying, and whether a buffer is needed while it waits.
Write down the trial
Batch weight, leaf condition, model, pressure and time settings and the output seen, kept as one record for acceptance.
Published specifications
Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.
| Specification | Published value | Meaning / limit |
|---|---|---|
| Models listed | 6CR-30 /35 /40 /55 /65 /75 [1] [2] | Six rows in one comparison table, sharing one family design. |
| Leaf fed in | Fixed leaves or withered leaves [1] | The roller works after fixation or withering and shapes leaves into strips. |
| Material | 6CR-30 copper; other five stainless steel [2] | Ask for the stainless grade and a list of which parts touch the leaf. |
| Motor power | 0.37–5.5 kW [2] | One rating per model. Energy per batch depends on running time as well. |
| Pressure arms | Single arm; single/double arm; double arm by model [2] | Describes the mechanical layout. Ask how pressure is set and timed on your build. |
| Batch capacity | ≥4 /≥7 /≥10 /≥30 /≥55 /≥100 kg per batch [2] | Printed with a ≥ sign. Ask for the workable charge range and the leaf condition it assumes. |
| Hourly output | Calculate from a timed batch cycle [1] [2] | Add loading, rolling, unloading and handling time to the batch weight to estimate line rate. |
6CR-55 arm choice and leaf-contact materials
Smaller rollers have a single arm, the 65 and 75 have a double arm, and the 6CR-55 row names both. Ask which 55 build is quoted and how its pressure is applied and adjusted. Also ask for the actuator type, pressure calibration, any automatic sequence and which spare parts are shared across builds, since the table lists none of these.
The material column gives copper for the 30 and stainless steel for the rest. Request a leaf-contact parts list with the stainless grade, the surface finish and cleaning instructions, and any food-contact or corrosion test papers Sunyoung holds for that build.

Floor space, power and service access
Printed dimensions describe the machine body. Leave extra room for operators, leaf transfer and maintenance, and ask for an installation drawing that shows it. Sunyoung's 6CJW clump breakers take rolled leaf apart before shaping, so show that hand-off on the same drawing.
| Layout or utility topic | Request for your chosen roller |
|---|---|
| Charging and unloading | Opening positions, how leaf is moved in and out, operator reach and access on the installation drawing. |
| Cleaning between batches | Sunyoung's cleaning method, which contact areas can be reached, and steps that suit your own segregation rules. |
| Electrical supply | Motor voltage and frequency, starter and control gear, and protection. The kW column lists none of these. |
| Maintenance | Guarded drive layout, adjustment access, wear-part numbers and service instructions for your arm option. |
| Placing the bigger models | Delivered weight, anchoring and installation instructions, and floor loading for the 65 or 75. |
Buyer questions
Can a ≥55 kg/batch roller run a smaller charge?
The ≥ sign describes capacity and gives no lower limit. Ask Sunyoung for the charge range the machine handles well, with the trial behind it. [2]
Is the 6CR-55 a double-arm roller?
Its row lists single and double arms. State the arm you want and have it written into the order. [2]
Can I compare energy per batch from the kW column?
The column gives motor size only. Energy per batch needs measured power and time for a defined run. [2]
Does stainless steel mean food-contact approval?
The table names the material without grade, part list or certificate. Ask for those documents for the build you order. [2]
What the quotation should fix
Sunyoung marks its figures as reference data that follow the actual product. The page offers a series table and a process description; order drawings and an operator manual come with the quote. Motor kW tells you the drive size, and the number in the model name is a model code, so ask for the barrel dimension separately.
Have the quotation state the model, pressure-arm option, contact materials, electrical build, the batch weight basis and the agreed trial. Price, warranty length, spare-part lead times and any current certificate are also offer terms to settle with Sunyoung.
Printed page 30 of the official brochure lists the 30 to 65 rows and stops there, while the current web parameter image includes the 75. If you are looking at the 75, ask Sunyoung for its current specification sheet and confirm it is in production.
