Tea processing

Sunyoung Continuous Drum Tea Aroma Machine

Sunyoung's continuous aroma machine lifts tea on a feed conveyor into an enclosed rotating drum, warms it with far-infrared ceramic heating panels while guide ribs keep the leaf moving, and discharges onto a cooling conveyor. Integrated controls tie the three together, so tea flows through without stopping, unlike a batch aroma cabinet. Sunyoung promises even heating, quick moisture release, good ventilation and little breakage. The product page carries no model code, hourly output or heating schedule, so plan a demonstration with your own tea and ask for a written specification of the module offered.

Build my procurement brief

Where the aroma drum sits in your tea process

Sunyoung calls this a continuous aroma-enhancement stage. Tea rises on an elevator into the drum and is heated there. The maker names no tea grade, incoming moisture or finished target, and the moisture-release wording describes aroma work rather than a fresh-leaf drying capacity.

Tell Sunyoung what the tea is just before this step: its processing history, form, condition and the aroma or moisture change you want. Say what happens after cooling. With that, Sunyoung can run a demonstration on tea like yours.

The batch aroma cabinet and the tea drying and fixing modules in the same catalogue are different machines with their own ratings. An enclosed drum that looks similar may differ in model, heat load and the leaf it accepts, so ask for this module's own specification.

Feed, heating and cooling: the three handoffs

The aroma you get depends on every transfer: how tea reaches the drum, how it travels through the heat and how it leaves the cooler. Sunyoung lists a feed conveyor, the drum and a cooling conveyor, all under integrated controls. The photographs show the machines, not a finished installation or a test run.

  1. Into the drum

Describe how tea arrives from upstream and the steady feed you want. Ask what the feeder regulates and how it copes with gaps in supply.

  2. Through the heat

Ask for drum speed, heating controls and how leaf travel is governed. Guide ribs move the leaf, and dwell time still needs a figure.

  3. Onto the cooler

State the cooled condition your next stage needs. Cooling airflow, time and end temperature are not published, so get them in the offer.

  4. Linked controls

Confirm the start and stop sequence and what happens when upstream or downstream halts. Ask for the control schedule behind the integrated control.

Panel settings and the temperature your tea reaches

Heat comes from far-infrared ceramic panels, and guide ribs inside the drum turn the leaf. Sunyoung gives no leaf temperature, treatment time or energy use at a set output. Ask for the heating layout, the adjustable controls and the measuring points before treating a panel setting as a tea temperature.

In the demonstration, log the machine side and the tea side separately. Record feed, drum and heating settings next to the incoming tea and the cooled samples. Ask how Sunyoung judged even heating and moisture release, and whether that was at the running condition you will use.

No time and temperature recipe is published. Agree the treatment for your tea with Sunyoung, using the control manual for the machine supplied. Aroma, final moisture and protection from overheating are results to measure on your own product.

Measuring aroma, moisture and breakage in a trial

Even heating, fast moisture release, good ventilation and low breakage are stated without numbers or a test report. Use them as questions for the trial and set pass marks from your own product requirements. To place this step against withering, fixation, rolling and drying, use our tea processing machinery by stage guide.

Sunyoung's claimHow to check it on your tea
AromaCompare the tea before and after treatment and cooling. Agree who tastes it and which attributes decide acceptance; Sunyoung gives no score or promised gain.
Moisture releaseSample and measure the incoming and cooled tea at the agreed feed. Fast release is a description; ask for a final moisture figure.
Even treatmentTake samples across the run at the agreed settings and decide how variation is judged. No uniformity limit or automatic tea-temperature control is published.
BreakageDefine what counts as broken leaf or fines, and compare input with cooled output. No percentage or test method accompanies the claim.
VentilationAsk for the airflow and exhaust layout and its site connections, plus dust handling and the cleaning procedure.

Published specifications

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

SpecificationPublished valueMeaning / limit
Process chainFeed conveyor → continuous drum aroma machine → cooling conveyor [1]Integrated controls link the three. Layout, sizes and component codes come with the quote.
Heating and leaf movementFar-infrared ceramic heating panels with leaf-guiding ribs inside the drum [1]Sunyoung's working principle. Temperature range, sensor position, drum speed and dwell time are not published.
Promised resultsUniform heating, quick moisture release, ventilation and low breakage [1]Stated without numbers. Turn each one into a measured check in your demonstration.
Model and outputNot supplied on the current module page [1] [2] [3]Ask for the model code and hourly rate of the build offered to you.
Power and installationHeating power, total electrical load and installation envelope not stated [1]Request the heating power, drive loads, supply and connection schedule with the quote.

What the quote must state

The product page has no parameter table and no model. Ask Sunyoung for the current specification of this module for your process, instead of borrowing figures from another tea machine. Photographs of the conveyor and drum help you picture it; the numbers have to come in writing. Bowl roasting on the 6CHP-941 round-bowl tea roasters is the lot-by-lot alternative within the maker's range.

Missing figureWhat to ask Sunyoung for
OutputSteady output for your tea condition and aroma and moisture target. Keep feed rate apart from finished-tea capacity.
Heat and powerHeating power, drive motors, supply requirements and total load, with the conditions behind any energy estimate.
LayoutComponent models, inlet and outlet positions, overall sizes and access needs for the feed, drum and cooler.
Materials and cleaningTea-contact materials and the cleaning instructions. Ask for any hygiene certificate you require.
HandoverRecorded settings and trial results, control manual, service documents and support terms.

Buyer questions

Is this the same as Sunyoung's batch aroma cabinet?

No. Tea passes continuously through a drum between feed and cooling conveyors under integrated control. The cabinet's ratings belong to the cabinet. [1]

What is the hourly output?

The product page gives no output or model code. Ask for a quote stating output for your tea condition and target result. [1]

Is there a ready temperature recipe for the infrared panels?

Sunyoung publishes no temperature range, treatment time or tea-temperature method. Settle the treatment in a demonstration on your tea. [1]

How low is the breakage?

No percentage or method is given. Define broken leaf and fines for your tea and measure them in the trial. [1]

Do the photos show which cooler and motors come with it?

They show the equipment but no component list or ratings. Ask Sunyoung to list the components and ratings of the module offered. [1] [2] [3]
