Tea processing

Sunyoung 6CLXL240 Continuous Tea-Strip Shaping Machine

Sunyoung's continuous shaping module forms high-grade strip tea as it moves forward through heated troughs, with two or three machines linked head to tail. The troughs are 201 stainless steel of equal width, heated by electric tubes underneath, and Sunyoung claims a left-to-right temperature difference within ±0.5°C. The brochure model is the 6CLXL240: 45 kW heating and 0.75 kW base power per unit, 2650 × 1830 × 980 mm, and ≥50 kg/h. Elevators, a cooling conveyor and control and power cabinets complete the line. Adding units adds shaping stages, so ask how output is counted for the full line.

Build my procurement brief

Start with the strip shape you want

Sunyoung aims this module at continuous shaping of high-grade strip tea. Tea moves forward through the troughs while it is heated. The maker does not state the tea condition it expects, the finished strip shape, a damage limit or a moisture target, so these have to be agreed for your product.

Tell Sunyoung what the tea is like on arrival, how much shaping is left to do and what comes after cooling. Ask for a demonstration on similar tea that records the machine settings and the finished leaf. Even strip form and the promised reduction in sticking show up only with tea in the troughs.

The continuous line is a different machine from Sunyoung's vibrating shaping module and its stand-alone 6CLZ range. Ask for the model and figures of the continuous build you are offered and where it fits in your process.

Two or three units: what each stage does

The brochure lists the 6CLXL240 in quantity 2/3, with elevators and control and power cabinets, working head to tail. Read the quantity as a choice to settle with Sunyoung. Each unit is a stage in one process, so their rates do not stack. Line sizing across consecutive stages is covered in our guide to tea processing machinery by stage.

  1. Job of each stage

Ask Sunyoung what shaping and heat each unit provides and why your tea needs two or three. No per-stage recipe is published.

  2. Transfers

Approve where each unit discharges and the next receives, including any lift. Ask how delivery between units is evened out.

  3. Line control

Get the linked feed and control sequence and what happens if one stage stops. The controls are integrated, and no automatic quality loop is described.

  4. Output figure

Ask whether ≥50 kg/h is for one unit or the whole line, and for what tea condition. Three stages in series do not make 150 kg/h.

Troughs, bottom heating and the ±0.5°C claim

Equal-width troughs in 201 stainless steel and a narrow left-to-right temperature spread are precise claims. Ask for the documents and measurements behind each.

Sunyoung's statementWhat to ask for your build
Equal-width designRequest trough width, number of troughs and motion settings for the unit offered.
Heating tubes under the troughsElectric tubes sit below the troughs. Ask for the heater rating, controls and measuring points; a heater setting is not the leaf temperature.
Within ±0.5°C side to sideAsk where and how it was measured, under what load and settings. It describes left-to-right spread, not sensor accuracy or leaf temperature.
201 stainless troughsRequest the grade and surface finish of all tea-contact parts, with any certificate you require.
Less sticking and warpingSunyoung links these to the construction without test figures. Check sticking, cleaning access and strip form in your trial.

Per-unit power, size and the full line

The brochure gives an electric version only. The product page says other heat sources can be chosen to suit the customer, with no gas or solid-fuel ratings. Get the ratings for the heat source you choose in writing. Sunyoung's gas, DRL electric, FP and GRFL solid-fuel furnaces are the maker's listed heat sources to discuss.

Brochure figureHow to use it
45 kW per unit heatingElectric heating for one unit. Ask for heater layout, supply needs and running consumption.
0.75 kW per unit base powerSeparate from heating. Add conveyors and controls to get the demand of a two- or three-unit line.
2650 × 1830 × 980 mmOne machine, length × width × height. The full line adds transfers, cooling and access space, so request a layout.
≥50 kg/hNo tea condition or unit-versus-line basis. Agree capacity together with strip form and cooled tea requirements.
Other heat sourcesAvailable on request. Ask which one is offered and for its rated figures.

Trial run and cooled tea at the end of the line

A cooling conveyor closes the line, with no airflow, time or end point published. State what your next process needs and how the cooled tea is handed over. Good hot shaping is half the result; the handoff is the other half.

In the trial, record the tea, number of units, settings per stage and feed pattern. Check strip form and variation, sticking or tea left in the troughs, damage and the cooled condition. That covers Sunyoung's claims on your own terms.

Before signing, get the control sequence, contact-material documents, cleaning instructions and service manual. Ask how the line recovers from a stop. Write the accepted capacity for the whole agreed line and tea result, and keep the per-unit brochure figures as per-unit figures.

Buyer questions

Do three units in series give 150 kg/h?

No. The brochure lists quantity 2/3 and ≥50 kg/h without saying whether that is per unit or per line. Ask Sunyoung for the output of the full line you order. [2]

Is ±0.5°C the sensor accuracy?

No. It is Sunyoung's claimed left-to-right temperature difference, given without test conditions. Ask how it was measured. [1]

Are the 201 stainless troughs food-contact certified?

Sunyoung states the grade only. Ask for a material and surface certificate for the tea-contact parts. [1]

Is 0.75 kW the power of the whole line?

No. Each unit has 0.75 kW base and 45 kW heating, and conveyors and controls add more. Request the full electrical schedule. [2]

Is there a gas version with ratings?

Other heat sources are offered, but no gas ratings are published. Ask Sunyoung for the figures of the build you choose. [1] [2]
