Sunyoung 6CCGQ Double-Pot Tea Shapers

Sunyoung's 6CCGQ-50 and 6CCGQ-60 are electric double-pot machines for shaping and frying curled and ball-shaped specialty tea. Sunyoung fits cast-iron pots, which it says hold their shape when hot better than pressed pots. Speed is set by gear shift on the 50 and by variable frequency on the 60. Heaters are 7.6 and 10.6 kW, motors 0.55 and 1.1 kW. One table entry needs clearing up: the output column is headed kg/h, yet the cells read 2 kg and 5 kg of initially dried leaf. Here you will find the two models side by side, the pot question, a two-pot trial and service details.

Build my procurement brief

Gear shift or variable frequency

Sunyoung offers these double-pot machines for curled and ball-shaped specialty tea. The 50 changes speed through gears and the 60 through a variable-frequency drive. Neither the number of gear positions nor the frequency range is published, and the catalogue does not compare finished tea from the two.

Ask Sunyoung to show the speed controls on the machine you are offered and run your own leaf through it. Judge both models on curled or ball shape. The tight-strip target belongs to the bottle drum.

The 2 kg and 5 kg cells

Both the web table and the brochure print “2 kg initially dried leaf” for the 50 and “5 kg initially dried leaf” for the 60, in a column headed kg/h. The cells could mean a charge, a machine total, a load per pot or an hourly amount.

Ask Sunyoung to state in writing the quantity, the leaf stage and whether it is per hour, per batch or per pot. Plan shifts and cycle times only once you have that answer.

Cast-iron pots and the hot working gap

Sunyoung's case for cast iron is that pressed pots can warp when heated, which changes the working gap and leaves more broken or loosely shaped tea. It uses cast-iron pots for that reason. No heat-distortion test or broken-leaf figure is published to go with the argument.

Ask for the pot and working-member layout, the materials, and Sunyoung's inspection and service instructions. Then run your leaf with the pots at working heat and grade shape and broken pieces by an agreed method. Gap tolerance, adjustment and pot replacement intervals should come from Sunyoung in writing.

50 and 60 side by side

The 60 has a larger drive, a larger heater and a bigger frame. Compare capacity only after the leaf-quantity cells are explained.

Trialling both pots

Each Sunyoung photo shows two pots. The catalogue says nothing about separate control for each pot, so find out how the pair is run before the trial. The stages that come before shaping, from withering to rolling, are laid out in our tea machinery guide by stage.

  1. Settle the quantity

Get the meaning of the initially dried-leaf entry and the allowed load and spread for your build.

  2. Learn how the pots are controlled

Ask from the written instructions how heating and motion work across the two pots.

  3. Run your leaf

Use the recommended heat and speed method with labelled lots.

  4. Grade each pot

Record shape, broken pieces and dryness from each pot by the agreed sampling method.

  5. Time the full cycle

Include loading, unloading, lot handling and cleaning once the quantity is clear.

Buyer questions

Are 2 and 5 kg hourly capacities?

The column is headed kg/h, but the cells say only kilograms of initially dried leaf. Ask Sunyoung to confirm in writing what the figures measure. [2] [3]

Does the variable-frequency 60 make better tea?

Variable frequency is how the 60 sets speed. Compare the controls and grade your own leaf from each model in a trial. [1] [3]

Can each pot be controlled on its own?

Sunyoung does not list that for the double-pot machines. Ask how the two pots are controlled on the build you are quoted. [1] [2]

Will cast-iron pots stop broken tea?

Sunyoung argues cast pots warp less than pressed ones and gives no test figures. Grade broken pieces in your own trial. [1] [3]

Pots, drive and service details

Sunyoung's photos show an open-frame and an enclosed-frame double-pot machine without a readable model. Work from drawings and parts lists that match your quote. Initially dried leaf for these pots can come from Sunyoung's 6CHB continuous tea dryers, listed in the same tea processing range.
