Sunyoung 6CHB Continuous Tea Dryers
The Sunyoung 6CHB is a continuous plate dryer for tea, built in four sizes: 6CHB-3, 6CHB-6, 6CHB-10 and 6CHB-20. Plates carry the leaf through the box at a speed set by an electromagnetic adjuster, and a large-flow main fan moves the air. Motor power runs from 0.55 to 1.1 kW and listed output from ≥12 to ≥35 kg/h. Heat can come from coal, electricity or gas, and the table adds reference consumption for electric, LPG and natural-gas heating. Below are the sizes, the fuel figures, the plate options and the points to settle in your quotation.

Build my procurement brief6CHB sizes, motors and box dimensions
The web table pairs each size with a motor rating, an hourly output and outer box dimensions. The 6CHB-3 is a short single box; the three larger sizes share a 1620 mm width and grow in length.
| Model: motor / listed hourly output | Box dimensions and what to ask |
|---|---|
| 6CHB-3: 0.55 kW / ≥12 kg/h | 2920 × 1010 × 1400 mm. Ask whether the kg/h figure is fresh leaf fed in or dried tea out. |
| 6CHB-6: 0.55 kW / ≥20 kg/h | 5040 × 1620 × 1650 mm. Shares its motor rating with the 6CHB-3, though the heating load differs. |
| 6CHB-10: 0.75 kW / ≥25 kg/h | 5950 × 1620 × 1650 mm. Request the moisture in and out behind the listed rate for your tea. |
| 6CHB-20: 1.1 kW / ≥35 kg/h | 6880 × 1620 × 1650 mm. The outer length is given; ask for the internal plate path and drying time. |
Motor power and heating load are two figures
The motor column covers the plate drive. A heated dryer draws far more, and Sunyoung gives that in a separate reference-consumption column: 60, 80, 120 and 150 for the four sizes, with the unit printed as kw/h.
Before you size the site supply or work out a cost per kilogram, ask Sunyoung to state in writing what that unit means, how it was measured and whether it covers the drive, fan, heater and auxiliaries together.
Reference fuel use by size
Sunyoung lists electric, LPG and natural-gas figures for each size. Coal appears as a heat source but has no consumption figure in the table. The fuel figures come without the moisture, air temperature or ambient conditions they were taken at, so ask for that test basis with your quote. The same catalogue has a separate hot-air machine, the 6CHT dynamic tea dewatering dryer, worth pricing alongside if you compare drying options.
| Model | Catalogue reference consumption |
|---|---|
| 6CHB-3 | Electric: 60 kw/h as printed; LPG: 4–5 kg/h; natural gas: 5–6 m³/h. |
| 6CHB-6 | Electric: 80 kw/h as printed; LPG: 7–9 kg/h; natural gas: 8–10 m³/h. |
| 6CHB-10 | Electric: 120 kw/h as printed; LPG: 15–18 kg/h; natural gas: 17–21 m³/h. |
| 6CHB-20 | Electric: 150 kw/h as printed; LPG: 16–20 kg/h; natural gas: 18–22 m³/h. |
Published specifications
Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.
| Specification | Published value | Meaning / limit |
|---|---|---|
| Models in the range | 6CHB-3 / 6CHB-6 / 6CHB-10 / 6CHB-20 [2] [3] | Four rows in the same web table and brochure, compared here on one page. |
| Motor power, sizes 3 / 6 / 10 / 20 | 0.55 / 0.55 / 0.75 / 1.1 kW [2] [3] | The drive motor only. Heating load is listed in a separate column. |
| Hourly output, sizes 3 / 6 / 10 / 20 | ≥12 / ≥20 / ≥25 / ≥35 kg/h [2] [3] | Printed with ≥ signs. The table gives no moisture figures and does not say if this is fresh leaf in or dried tea out. |
| Heat sources offered | Coal, electricity, gas [2] [3] | Name the heat source you want and get its heater or furnace listed in the quote. |
| Plate drive | Electromagnetic speed adjustment; anti-reverse main motor [1] [3] | Sunyoung's own wording. The anti-reverse motor stops the plates running backwards after a wiring mistake. |
| Custom plate build | An outward-turning plate version may be customized for dark raw tea [1] [3] | Offered as a special build for dark tea, so order it by name if you need it. |
| Electric reference-consumption unit | Printed as kw/h [2] [3] | An unusual unit. Ask Sunyoung what quantity it stands for before using it in energy sums. |
Plate speed, airflow and leaf colour
Sunyoung says the electromagnetic plate-speed control and large-flow main fan dry the leaf faster and keep its colour. The catalogue stops at that description. It prints no airflow, temperature range, plate-speed range or internal travel length.
The practical way to set the machine for your tea is a loaded trial. Send leaf at your normal incoming condition and record the feed rate, the settings Sunyoung recommends, mass and moisture in and out, and the colour grade you agree on. Drying time comes from the plate path and plate speed, which you can request alongside the trial. Drying closes the sequence in our tea processing machinery by stage guide, which also shows how to size a line around it.
Choosing the build and getting it running
The family photo shows the general dryer form. Sunyoung's other dryers, roasters and aroma machines sit in the same tea processing line-up. The steps below take you from a size on the table to a commissioned machine.
Pick size and plate version
Name the tea and the processing stage. Say whether you need the outward-turning plate build for dark raw tea.
Get drawings for the quoted build
Ask for plate, drive, feed and discharge, and heat-source drawings that match the size you order.
Get the start-up procedure
Request the electrical and commissioning instructions, protections and recommended settings for the delivered dryer. Leave rotation checks to that procedure.
Run a loaded acceptance trial
Tie the accepted output to agreed moisture and quality results on your own tea, and record the settings used.
Buyer questions
Does the motor figure include the heater?
No. The motor column covers the drive. Heating appears as reference consumption in its own column, so ask Sunyoung for a full connected-load schedule. [2] [3]
What does the printed kw/h unit mean?
The catalogue does not explain it. Ask Sunyoung to confirm the unit and how it was measured before you convert it or cost energy per kilogram. [2] [3]
What the quotation should list
The table dimensions are for the dryer box. Plan floor space and utilities around the full set, including the heat source and any air ducting.
| Quotation item | Details to request |
|---|---|
| Dryer box and plates | Current configuration, weight, access and cleaning space, feed and discharge connections. |
| Heat source | The electric heater, coal or gas unit quoted, its rating, what is supplied, and whether hot air reaches the leaf directly or through an exchanger. |
| Utilities and air | Total connected electrical load, voltage and frequency, fuel supply needs, exhaust and air connections. |
| Controls | Which sensors and adjustments are fitted and the settings Sunyoung supports. Ask separately about logging or automatic moisture control. |
| Cleaning and service | Cleaning instructions for leaf-contact parts, plate and drive wear parts, and service access. |
