Sinharbour HG48SMH Self-Propelled Mower
Sinharbour sells the HG48 as a self-propelled 48 cm (19-inch) petrol lawn mower in two versions, HG48SMH-B and HG48SMH-BS625. Both share a steel deck, central height adjustment in eight positions from 25 to 75 mm, a 60 L half-plastic grass catcher and four clipping modes. They differ in engine, fuel and oil capacity and weight. The photo for the BS625 version shows 675EX on the engine cover while its specification says BS625E, so fix the exact engine with Sinharbour before you order mowers or parts.

Build my procurement briefTwo engines: which one you are buying
Both versions use the same cutting platform with different engines. Briggs & Stratton's own FAQ explains that an engine is identified by the Model, Type and Code stamped on it; a cover name or emissions label is too little. Apply that rule when you confirm which engine your mowers will carry.
| Version | Engine as listed and what to ask |
|---|---|
| HG48SMH-B | Listed with an SHB1P70 engine, 173 cc, 3.2 kW at 3000 rpm. Its product photo file is named HG48SMH-S. Ask Sinharbour to confirm the engine and the photo for current production. |
| HG48SMH-BS625 | Listed with a BS625E engine, 190 cc, 2.72 kW at 3000 rpm. The product photo shows a 675EX engine cover. Ask which engine is fitted and get its own specification. |
| Parts and replacements | Request the mower identification and the engine's Model, Type and Code, with parts and manual references. The deck code is separate from engine part numbers. |
| Comparing power | Both power figures are given at 3000 rpm with no rating method. The 190 cc engine is listed at the lower power, so compare on the rated figures and a trial. |
Published specifications
Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.
| Specification | Published value | Meaning / limit |
|---|---|---|
| Versions | HG48SMH-B / HG48SMH-BS625 [1] [2] [6] | Two catalogue entries on one cutting platform. Ask which engine and build current production carries. |
| Cutting system | 48 cm (19-inch nominal), steel deck [1] [2] | Cutting width and deck material. Overall machine width and area mown per hour are separate figures. |
| Height adjustment | 25–75 mm, eight levels, central [1] [2] | Ask for the height at each step and where it is measured from; the steps may not be evenly spaced. |
| Drive and wheels | Self-propelled; front/rear 7/10 inches [1] [2] | Travel speed, drive layout, traction, braking and the steepest slope allowed are not listed. Ask for them. |
| Clippings | 60 L half-plastic catcher; four modes [1] [2] | Catcher volume. How often it fills depends on your grass. Ask which chute, plug and catcher parts ship with the order. |
| Engine on the BS625 version | BS625E in text; 675EX on the product photo [2] [4] [5] | Ask Sinharbour for the engine's stamped Model, Type and Code and a build sheet that matches it. |
Fuel, oil and weight by version
Sinharbour lists these figures for each version. The tank figures are capacities. Fill amounts, oil grade and service intervals come from the engine manual. Net weight is the mower; gross weight includes packing.
| Version | Engine, fluids and weights |
|---|---|
| HG48SMH-B | SHB1P70; 173 cc; 3.2 kW@3000 rpm. Fuel tank 1.6 L; oil tank 0.55 L. Net 36.5 kg; gross 39.5 kg. |
| HG48SMH-BS625 | BS625E as printed; 190 cc; 2.72 kW@3000 rpm. Fuel tank 0.8 L; oil tank 0.47 L. Net 34.5 kg; gross 37.5 kg. |
| Oil and maintenance | Use the current manual for the engine actually fitted to get oil grade, how to check and fill, and service intervals. Ask Sinharbour for running time per tank if you need it. |
| Lifting and transport | Ask for lifting points and tie-down instructions. Weight alone tells you little about how the mower handles. |
Four clipping modes and the parts that come with them
Both versions offer rear collection, rear discharge, side discharge and mulching. Each mode needs its own parts. Ask which of them ship in the box, and judge each mode on grass like yours.
| Mode | What to settle with Sinharbour |
|---|---|
| Rear bag collection | Check the 60 L catcher and how it fits. Agree a test on your grass to see how quickly it fills. |
| Rear discharge | Ask for the rear-discharge parts and Sinharbour's instructions for setting it up. |
| Side discharge | Ask which chute and guard are supplied and whether they are standard with both engines. |
| Mulching | Ask which plug and blade come with the mower, and agree the finish you expect on your lawn. |
| Order checklist | Put the mower version, engine, catcher, chute or plug, blade and manual and part references on the purchase order. |
Cutting height, width and drive
The cutting width is 48 cm, sold as a 19-inch mower. That is the strip cut on each pass. Sinharbour gives no travel speed, overlap or turning allowance, so area per hour depends on your lawn and is best measured in a trial.
Height is set centrally in eight positions between 25 and 75 mm. Ask for the value at each position and where it is measured from. The grass height you get also depends on the ground, so check it on your own lawn.
The mower is self-propelled on 7-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels. Slope limits and braking are not listed. Ask Sinharbour to state the slope the mower may work on and how the drive is controlled. Ask the same drive and slope questions of any second self-propelled quote, such as the Dobest DB8721S Self-propelled Lawn Mower.
Carton, container loading and approval marks
Both versions share the same carton and container figures. The website footer still carries a 2009–2014 copyright line, and the photos are from 2024. Ask for the current revision, stock position and market documents with your quotation. Buyers filling a mixed load can also ask Sinharbour to quote its HG60T petrol rotary tiller alongside the mowers.
| Listed on the page | Ask for with your quote |
|---|---|
| Carton 80×54.5×50 cm | Packed length, width and height. Ask for the assembled size, folded storage size and the packing for your engine version. |
| 20/40/40HQ counts 112/224/280 | Catalogue loading figures. Ask for your minimum order, stock and the loading plan for your container. |
| CE/EMC/GS/EURO II marks | Ask for the declaration, test reports, holder and scope, and the engine emissions record for the engine fitted. |
| Service and parts | Ask for blade, belt, drive and engine part references, parts supply terms and the written warranty and support terms. |
Trial run on your grass
Run a short trial with the engine and clipping mode you plan to buy. It ties cut quality, collection and mowing rate to the configuration you will receive. If a push mower is enough for your lawns, run the same trial on the DAYEE DY162-131PB-06 Hand-Push Petrol Lawn Mower. Walk-behind mowers from other factories are compared on our garden and forestry page.
Fix the build
Get the exact mower and engine names and a current specification. Ask for the documents your market requires.
Set the grass and mode
Agree the lawn, grass condition, target height and the clipping parts supplied. Keep these details with the trial record.
Record the result
Note cut quality, how clippings are collected or spread, area mown and any stops.
Plan repeat parts
Keep the blade, deck drive, chute, plug, catcher and engine part and manual references for reorders. Order engine parts by the stamped engine code.
Buyer questions
The BS625 photo shows 675EX. Which engine is it?
The cover and the written specification differ. Ask Sinharbour for the stamped engine Model, Type and Code and a matching mower specification. [2] [4] [5]
Is the 190 cc version more powerful than the 173 cc one?
Sinharbour lists 2.72 kW for the 190 cc version and 3.2 kW for the 173 cc version, both at 3000 rpm, with no rating method. Compare them in a trial on your grass. [1] [2]
