HOREY ZBMR Brake Motors
The HOREY ZBMR is a BMR orbital motor with a multidisc friction brake, a built-in shuttle valve and internal control passages in one housing. Seven sizes run from ZBMR80 to ZBMR315. HOREY's technical table lists the driving torque and the static brake torque separately and states that the brake is for static holding. Use it where a shaft must stay put once the machine has stopped, and size it from the holding torque you need. This page gives the figures for each size, the brake-opening pressures, the control options, the P1/H1 mounting drawing and the questions to settle before ordering.

Build my procurement briefHow the brake is controlled
HOREY's footnote says the ZBMR brake is for static braking. It lists two control versions. On the internal-control version, pressure in the main inlet or outlet port reduces brake torque in the braking state. On the external-control version, pressure at the separate control port does the same. Plan the circuit so that pressure is vented when the brake must hold.
The short webpage describes a built-in shuttle valve and internal passages; the technical note covers both control versions. Ask for the control version, option code and circuit for your motor, showing how brake opening, return and drain pressure work together.
HOREY gives no figures for stopping energy, heat, emergency stops or whole-machine braking. If your machine also needs a service brake that stops it moving, specify that duty separately. If the brake motor is meant for a winch, ask HOREY to quote the 1000 series hydraulic winch as an alternative.
Drive torque and static brake torque by size
The driving torque is what the motor delivers under pressure. The static brake torque is what the brake holds once the shaft is stopped. Size each one from its own requirement. When the shaft never has to hold a load, compare against a plain orbital motor such as HOREY's BMS series. The speed ranges are published ranges for the assembly.
| Size: pressure, maximum drive torque, speed range | Static brake torque, opening pressure, mass, length L |
|---|---|
| 80: 14 MPa; 152 N·m; 20–500 rpm | Static 250–300 N·m; opening 1.3–1.7 MPa; 12.3 kg; L 240 mm. |
| 100: 14 MPa; 194 N·m; 20–450 rpm | Static 250–300 N·m; opening 1.3–1.7 MPa; 12.5 kg; L 244 mm. |
| 125: 14 MPa; 237 N·m; 20–400 rpm | Static 250–300 N·m; opening 1.3–1.7 MPa; 12.8 kg; L 248 mm. |
| 160: 14 MPa; 310 N·m; 20–300 rpm | Static 450–500 N·m; opening 2.6–3.2 MPa; 13.0 kg; L 254 mm. |
| 200: 14 MPa; 369 N·m; 20–250 rpm | Static 450–500 N·m; opening 2.6–3.2 MPa; 13.5 kg; L 261 mm. |
| 250: 11 MPa; 380 N·m; 15–200 rpm | Static 450–500 N·m; opening 2.6–3.2 MPa; 14.0 kg; L 270 mm. |
| 315: 9 MPa; 380 N·m; 15–160 rpm | Static 450–500 N·m; opening 2.6–3.2 MPa; 14.5 kg; L 282 mm. |

Published specifications
Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.
| Specification | Published value | Meaning / limit |
|---|---|---|
| ZBMR sizes | ZBMR80 / 100 / 125 / 160 / 200 / 250 / 315 [1] [2] | Seven sizes on one family page, each a motor and brake built together. |
| Displacement | 80.5 / 100.5 / 126.3 / 160.8 / 200.9 / 252.6 / 321.5 ml/rev [2] [4] | Figures from the ZBMR table. Standalone BMR and BMR-BK01 tables list some different values. |
| Static brake torque and opening pressure | 80–125: 250–300 N·m and 1.3–1.7 MPa; 160–315: 450–500 N·m and 2.6–3.2 MPa [2] | Two brake groups. The torque is a static holding figure; HOREY publishes no dynamic stopping or braking-energy rating. |
| Mass / drawing length L | 12.3–14.5 kg / 240–282 mm by size [2] [3] | L runs to the marked mounting face. Add the shaft extension, coupling and hoses for the installed length. |
| Application stated on the page | General engineering equipment [1] | No specific farm machine is named. Send your machine drawing and holding duty for a fit check. |
The P1/H1 mounting drawing
The drawing is headed ZBMR80(80–315) P1(H1) AIIY. It shows one mounting and two shaft options; ask for the drawing of your exact control version. HOREY's other hydraulic components are listed in our parts and attachments category.
| Drawing feature | What to match on your machine |
|---|---|
| Main ports and drain | Two G1/2 main ports, 15 mm deep, and a G1/4 drain, 10 mm deep. Mark A, B and drain on your circuit. |
| Pilot and mounting | An 82.5h8 pilot and two 13.5 mm holes on a 106.4 mm mounting circle. Check housing clearance on the host. |
| P1 keyed shaft | 25 mm diameter with an 8×7×32 key, extending 54 mm from the mounting face. Match your coupling and fixing. |
| H1 spline shaft | A spline with its own designation and a 32 mm effective length. Order P1 or H1 by name; they fit different couplings. |
| Length L | The table's L of 240–282 mm ends at the mounting face. Ask for the full assembly drawing to plan coupling, shaft engagement and hose space. |
ZBMR and the catalogue's BMR-BK01 are different products
The downloadable catalogue includes a BMR-BK01 motor with an internal brake. It covers sizes 50 to 375, with 1.7–2.2 MPa brake-opening pressure and 500–550 N·m static holding torque. The ZBMR table has two different groups, so quote ZBMR figures from the ZBMR table.
The BMR-BK01 connection page shows a separate brake-release port C and a body 75 mm longer than a standard BMR. The ZBMR drawing is laid out differently. Treat the two as separate products with their own control circuits and dimensions.
Ask HOREY to put the assembly name, drawing revision and control schematic on the offer. A line that only says "BMR with brake" leaves the model and its control version open.
Buyer questions
Can the ZBMR brake stop a moving machine?
HOREY rates it for static braking only. It publishes no braking-energy, heat or stopping-cycle data, so plan a separate service brake if you need one. [2]
What pressure opens the brake?
1.3–1.7 MPa for sizes 80 to 125 and 2.6–3.2 MPa for 160 to 315. The exact value for your motor depends on its control version and circuit. [1] [2]
