Guangchang MGCZ Double-Body Paddy Separator

Guangchang's MGCZ double-body separator sits after the husker. It takes the mix of brown rice and unhusked paddy, sends brown rice on and returns paddy for another pass through the husker. Two sizes are offered. MGCZ46×20×2 gives 4.5–5.5 t/h of brown rice from a 1200×460 mm screen face at 3 kW. MGCZ60×20×2 gives 6.5–7.5 t/h from 1200×600 mm at 4 kW. Guangchang also prints three quality figures: paddy left in brown rice, brown rice in the return stream, and return quantity against brown-rice output. Each measures a different thing.

Build my procurement brief

Where the separator sits in a rice mill

The MGCZ separates paddy from brown rice. Stone removal and bran removal happen on other machines. Hulls aspirated after husking can pass through Guangchang's DKTL hull recovery device to catch stray grain. IRRI's milling guide follows the same order: the husker output goes to a paddy separator, paddy goes back for another husking pass, and brown rice moves on to de-stoning.

  1. Inlet mix

Tell Guangchang the rice variety, its condition and the share of brown rice and paddy coming off your husker. The sheet gives no reference mix or moisture.

  2. Brown-rice outlet

Say where brown rice goes next and how much leftover paddy you accept. Output figures are stated as brown rice.

  3. Return outlet

Size the chute or conveyor back to the husker. Returned paddy is husked again and stays in the product.

  4. Middle and recycle flows

Ask for the outlet and recycle drawing for the body connection you choose; the product photo shows the machine, not the chutes.

Published specifications

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

SpecificationPublished valueMeaning / limit
ModelsMGCZ46×20×2 / MGCZ60×20×2 [2]Two double-body sizes on one Guangchang sheet; the code groups follow the official listing.
Brown-rice output4.5–5.5 / 6.5–7.5 t/h [2]Measured as brown rice leaving the separator, which is less than the paddy fed to the husker. Feed and test conditions come from Guangchang on request.
Paddy left in brown rice≤5 grains/kg on both models [2]A count of unhusked grains per kilogram of brown rice, separate from any efficiency percentage.
Brown rice in the return stream≤10% on both models [2]Share of brown rice in the paddy sent back to the husker. Agree whether it is by weight and how samples are taken.
Return quantity / net brown quantityApproximately 15% [2]How much goes back to the husker compared with brown-rice output. This grain stays in the process.
Drive and layersMain axle 295 r/min; layers 20×2 [2]Same on both models. Ask whether speed can be adjusted and what stroke the screens run.

MGCZ46 and MGCZ60 side by side

The larger model has a wider screen, more output, more power and more weight. Both capacity figures are brown rice out, so compare them with your husker's brown-rice rate, not its paddy intake. Cleaning ahead of the husker follows the sequence laid out in our grain cleaning and handling line basics guide.

ModelOutput, screen, drive and weight
MGCZ46×20×2Brown rice 4.5–5.5 t/h; screen face 1200×460 mm; layers 20×2; installed power 3 kW; machine weight 1300 kg.
MGCZ60×20×2Brown rice 6.5–7.5 t/h; screen face 1200×600 mm; layers 20×2; installed power 4 kW; machine weight 1600 kg.
Main axle295 r/min on both. Ask whether this is fixed or adjustable.
Aspiration160×2 m³/h for the 46 and 170×2 m³/h for the 60. Ask for the static pressure so the plant fan can be sized.

Reading the three quality figures

The English labels on the sheet are hard to follow, so the Chinese terms are given here. Each figure has its own sample and its own basis; they do not add up to one efficiency number. Agree the sampling method and run length with Guangchang before a trial.

Chinese label and valueWhat it measures
净糙含谷: ≤5 grains/kgUnhusked paddy grains counted in one kilogram of the brown-rice output.
回砻谷含糙: ≤10%Brown rice found in the paddy returned to the husker. Confirm with Guangchang whether this is by weight.
回砻量/净糙量: ≈15%Return quantity divided by brown-rice output. The returned grain is re-husked, so this is a recycle load on the husker.
Sample both outletsTake samples from the brown-rice and return streams in the same run. One outlet alone answers only one of the three questions.

Parallel or series connection, and auto-stop

Guangchang describes stainless-steel separating plates pressed with concave dimples, and says the two bodies can be connected in parallel or in series to suit the process. The sheet gives one set of figures for both arrangements and no recycle diagram, and the 20×2 layer count is the same either way.

Ask Guangchang to mark which stream enters each body, where each outlet goes and any recycle between them. Then have the quoted output and quality figures written against that arrangement. Switching from parallel to series changes the flow path, so get the figures for the one you will run.

The sheet says the machine stops itself when feed runs out. Ask for the sensor type, the delay before it trips and the restart sequence, and check them in the manual and control documents for your machine.

Overall size, air, power and access

Screen sizes are marked mm. The overall-dimension heading ends in m, over four-digit numbers. Chute heights, floor space and freight all wait on a dimensioned MGCZ drawing that names its unit.

Figure on the sheetWhat to settle for installation
MGCZ46×20×2 outline2285×1650×2165 as printed. Machine weight 1300 kg; ask for packed weight separately.
MGCZ60×20×2 outline2425×1650×2165 as printed. Machine weight 1600 kg; ask for support and dynamic loads.
Screen faces1200×460 mm and 1200×600 mm. These are working screen sizes, smaller than the machine footprint.
Air and electricsAsk for connection sizes, aspiration pressure, supply voltage and starting current. Ask whether the 3 or 4 kW installed power includes any fan load.
Access and sparesCheck room to inspect and pull the separating plates, plus part numbers for replacements. Ask for plate life, repair response and stock.

Run an acceptance trial on your husker output

A high brown-rice tonnage is only half the picture. You also want little paddy in the brown rice and a sensible return load on the husker. Agree a trial with Guangchang that measures all three figures on the same feed and connection. Other machines for the same rice line are grouped on our grain processing page.

  1. Before the run

Confirm model, body connection, feed mix and condition, and the current drawing and control documents. Settle the overall dimension unit.

  2. During the run

Measure brown-rice output and return quantity over the same period, and sample both streams. Write down how the grain count and percentage are worked out.

  3. Reading the result

Look at output, leftover paddy and return figures together. Hold Guangchang to the figures on its sheet, and get any extra efficiency promise in writing.

  4. After acceptance

Keep the plate and connection details and the approved settings on file, so later spares and adjustments match this machine.

Buyer questions

Is 4.5–7.5 t/h the paddy intake?

No. The sheet states brown-rice output: 4.5–5.5 t/h for the MGCZ46 and 6.5–7.5 t/h for the MGCZ60. [2]

Does ≤5 mean 5% paddy?

It means no more than five unhusked grains per kilogram of brown rice. It is a grain count, not a percentage. [2]

Is the approximately 15% return a loss?

No. It is the paddy sent back to the husker compared with brown-rice output, and that grain is husked again. [2] [4]

Does series connection give the same capacity as parallel?

Guangchang allows both but prints one set of figures. Ask for output and quality figures for the arrangement you will use. [2]
