Runte RT-8070/A/B Pressure-Compensating Drippers

Runte's RT-8070 family has three pressure-compensating drippers. The base RT-8070 comes in 4 or 8 L/h. RT-8070A and RT-8070B each come in 2, 4, 6 or 8 L/h. All three are listed for 1.0–3.0 bar. The catalogue photos show a black RT-8070, a yellow-top A and a blue-top B, but give no colour-to-flow key. Order by full code and flow. Then send Runte your tube size and line pressures, and ask for the connection drawing and flow curve of the version you choose.

Choosing code and flow

The base RT-8070 has two flow choices; A and B have four each. Runte shows one photo per code, so the colour in the photo cannot tell you the flow. Write the full code and flow in your enquiry and ask how the delivered dripper is marked. Ask also what the A and B suffixes change. The main image on this page is the base RT-8070.

CodeFlows and photo colour
RT-80704 or 8 L/h; black in the catalogue photo.
RT-8070A2, 4, 6 or 8 L/h; yellow upper body in the photo.
RT-8070B2, 4, 6 or 8 L/h; blue upper body in the photo.

Flow and watering time: a quick comparison

Volume divided by flow gives running time. The table uses a 2-litre example and assumes each dripper delivers exactly its rated flow. Your real watering time comes from your crop's needs and the flow measured on your line.

FlowTime to deliver 2 litres at that flow
2 L/h60 minutes; A and B only.
4 L/h30 minutes; all three codes.
6 L/h20 minutes; A and B only.
8 L/h15 minutes; all three codes.

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

Inlet, outlet and mounting

The photos show a top outlet, a tapered barb underneath and side wings. They give no dimensions. Get a drawing from Runte before you choose a tube or punch.

  1. Inlet on the lateral

Give the tube or pipe material, outside diameter and wall. Ask for the barb dimensions, hole size, insertion depth and fitting instructions.

  2. Outlet

Say whether water drips straight out or goes on through a capillary or arrow stake. Ask for the outlet size and matching parts.

  3. Revision and spares

Confirm the code and flow marking and the drawing revision. Ask whether the cap or any seal can be opened for cleaning.

  4. Mounting

Ask for the allowed mounting position, capillary length and access for service.

Pressure at the outlets

All three codes are listed in Runte's pressure-compensating range at 1.0–3.0 bar. The entries give no flow curve, compensation accuracy, temperature effect or low-pressure behaviour for each flow version, so ask for those for the version you buy.

Send your layout, elevation changes, pipe lengths, outlet count and supply conditions to Runte or your designer. Ask for the flow curve of your code and flow, and the pressure band where it holds. Pressure at the pump or header is higher than at the last dripper, so check the far end of each line. Friction loss in the lateral is one cause, explained in our guide to specifying irrigation hose and pipe. A, B and the base model share the pressure figure; ask Runte before mixing them on one line.

Water, shutdown and delivery check

These entries give no filtration figure, chemical compatibility, anti-drip pressures, lot inspection or packing. Ask for whichever of these your installation needs. Where part of the farm suits overhead watering instead, Runte also offers the RT-9816 and RT-9821 rain guns. Our irrigation category brings together other makers for a side-by-side check. Runte's TOLV test report covers a different emitter; ask whether it applies to any RT-8070 version.

  1. Water and filtration

Give water quality and fertiliser use. Ask for the filtration grade, cleaning routine and replacement interval for this dripper.

  2. Shutdown

If the line must stay full after shutdown, ask whether an anti-drain version exists and at what pressure it closes.

  3. Delivered goods

Check code, flow marking, connections, quantity and included parts against the order. Ask for packing, stock, delivery and spare terms.

  4. Flow check

Agree test conditions and sampling with Runte and compare measured flow with the ordered rating.

Buyer questions

Is a yellow RT-8070A always 2 L/h?

Runte publishes no colour-to-flow key, and A comes in four flows. Confirm the version and its marking. [1] [3]

Can I get the base RT-8070 at 6 L/h?

The base entry lists 4 and 8 L/h. 6 L/h is listed for A and B; ask Runte for anything else. [1]

Can the flow be adjusted?

Each flow is a fixed version. No adjustment range is listed. [1]

Will every dripper give the same flow between 1.0 and 3.0 bar?

That is the listed compensation band. Ask for the flow curve of your version and check pressures along your lines. [1]

What tube size does it fit?

The photos give no dimensions. Ask Runte for the inlet and outlet drawing and fitting instructions. [2] [3] [4]
