Runte RT-9816 and RT-9821 Rain Guns

Runte lists three PP + POM rain guns for field irrigation. The RT-9816 has a G1-inch connection, works at 2.0–4.0 bar and has a listed Range of 15–17 m. The larger RT-9821 and RT-9821B have a G1½-inch connection, work at 3.0–4.5 bar and reach 22–25 m. The catalogue has three gaps to close with Runte. Flow figures are printed in litres with no time unit. The larger models are coded RT-9812 in their descriptions. The B photo shows 1-inch and 2-inch adapter pieces. Ask Runte for one model code, a nozzle performance table with units and a connection drawing before you size a pump or riser.

Three rain guns and their codes

The RT-9816 heading and description agree. For the two larger guns the heading ends in 9821 and the description in 9812. Quote both codes in your enquiry and ask Runte to name one model on the quotation. The B version has a green and black body; the catalogue gives it the same figures as the black larger gun.

Flow units before pump sizing

Flow is printed as 3700–5000 L and 11000–12500 L, with no time unit. A flow rate needs one: L/h, L/min or m³/h. Get the unit from Runte before you size a pump or add up the demand of several guns. Once the unit is known, our guide to choosing a petrol engine water pump shows how to set that flow against total head and suction lift.

Ask for a nozzle table that gives, for each nozzle, the flow with its unit, the pressure at the gun inlet and the throw. The minimum and maximum catalogue figures are separate limits, so read each operating point from that table.

With that table, your designer can check how many guns run at once, the elevation and the pipe losses against the duty you choose. Lay-flat and suction hose for the feed line are covered in our guide to specifying irrigation hose and pipe.

Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.

Connection, adapters and mounting

The B photo shows separate pieces labelled 1 inch and 2 inches, while its description lists G1½ inch. Ask Runte which piece fits the gun, which side fits your riser, and what comes in the box, with an assembly drawing. Rain guns from other makers in the irrigation category make a fair benchmark for the same questions. On smaller plots, an impact sprinkler such as the Dewo DC-S2-3 is the usual alternative to weigh.

  1. Gun connection

Ask whether the inlet is male or female, the thread designation and dimensions, and the model revision. Keep the printed G designation in your enquiry.

  2. Adapters

Ask Runte to name each piece in the photo, both of its threads, and whether it is included or optional.

  3. Mounting

Ask for the approved riser or stand, support needs and access for adjusting and servicing the gun and nozzle.

  4. Water and seals

Describe the water and any fertiliser, and ask for seal compatibility, nozzle cleaning instructions and pressure limits.

Throw, spacing and coverage

The catalogue calls the distance figure Range. It does not say whether that is radius or diameter, or give mounting height, nozzle, wind or the water distribution pattern. Get those before turning 15–17 m or 22–25 m into a wetted area or a grid spacing.

Runte names sugarcane, cereals, tea and fodder as crops for these guns. Plan the layout with your designer: plot boundaries, crop height, wind exposure and the area you need to cover. Ask Runte for distribution data for your nozzle and the supported mounting. If you need a part circle to keep water off roads or neighbouring land, ask for the sector adjustment limits and instructions.

Agree how the setting will be checked on a representative part of the site, and compare the full reach with the area that gets enough water. Runte publishes no water-saving or yield figures for these guns.

What the quotation should settle

Ask Runte for a written answer on the points above, tied to the gun it quotes and the parts included. The four items below make a workable order baseline.

  1. Model

One model code (9821 or 9812), with the nozzle, drawing and photo all referring to the same gun.

  2. Hydraulics

Flow unit, nozzle-by-nozzle pressure, flow and throw, the Range definition and the test conditions.

  3. Mechanical

Gun connection, adapter names and quantities, and the mounting arrangement. Confirm whether the 1-inch and 2-inch pieces come with the order.

  4. Delivery and trial

Check markings, nozzle and included parts on arrival. Agree the trial conditions and coverage check, spares and service instructions.

Buyer questions

Is the larger gun RT-9821 or RT-9812?

The catalogue heading says RT-9821 and the description says RT-9812. Ask Runte to confirm one code in writing before ordering. [1] [3]

Is 11000–12500 L per hour?

The catalogue gives no time unit. Ask Runte for the unit and the nozzle and pressure it applies to. [1]

Does the RT-9821B have a G1½-inch connection?

The description says G1½ inch; the photo shows pieces labelled 1 inch and 2 inches. Ask for the connection drawing and the parts list. [1] [4]

Can I space guns 25 m apart?

Range is not defined as radius or diameter and no distribution data is given. Work out spacing from your nozzle's performance and your site. [1]

Do RT-9821 and RT-9821B perform differently?

Both carry the same pressure, Range, Flow and material figures. Ask Runte what the B version changes. [1] [3] [4]
