JOYWAY JW-GD520 Petrol Earth Drill

The JW-GD520 is a petrol earth drill from JOYWAY with a 1E44F-5 engine of 49 cc, a 1650 W power rating, a 1200 ml fuel tank and recoil start. The photo shows the powerhead in a surrounding handle frame above an auger. The table calls the engine single-cylinder four-stroke yet also prints an oil ratio of 25:1, the mix used for two-stroke fuel. Settle that first by getting the engine nameplate and manual. Bit diameter, depth, output torque and drilling rate are not published, so specify the auger package in the quote.

Build my procurement brief

Four-stroke or two-stroke: settle the engine first

The table says “Single cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooling” and also “Oil ratio 25:1”. A four-stroke engine runs on plain fuel with oil in the crankcase; a mix ratio belongs to a two-stroke. The engine code and photo cannot tell you which one you will get.

Ask JOYWAY for the nameplate of the engine it will fit, its spec sheet and operating manual, and a written correction of the catalogue entry. Mix and lubricate only as that manual says. Our guide to buying handheld petrol and battery garden tools for import shows where fuel mix and displacement belong on an import specification. JOYWAY's DR520 and DR630 drills have their own engines, so their fuel instructions belong to those machines. The 1200 ml tank figure gives no fuel use or run time either.

Specifying the auger package

The catalogue photo shows the powerhead above an auger inside a handle frame. It shows the layout, with no sizes. Write the bit, extensions, connectors and accessories into the quotation.

What the photo showsWhat to put on the order
AugerBit diameter, working length, cutting-tip type and whether it is included. Sizes can't be taken from the picture.
Powerhead connectionOutput shaft dimensions, fixing method and compatible bits for this build. Ask whether DR520 or DR630 bits fit before ordering them.
Handles and controlsOperator layout, controls and handling instructions, including how many people and what protection against kickback.
ShippingMachine and bit dimensions and weights, packing and handling details.

Engine figures and drilling capacity

The 49 cc and 1650 W entries describe the engine. JOYWAY lists no gear ratio and no shaft speed or torque, so they cannot tell you how hard the bit turns or how fast it drills. There is no holes-per-hour figure, depth limit or soil curve for this model.

For orchard planting or fence posts, send JOYWAY the size and depth of hole you need, the soil type, any roots or stones, site access and the bit you have in mind. Ask which build suits that job and what test results back the answer. The reply should name the powerhead and bit pair. The site's customisation and dispatch wording gives no field results.

Running a site trial

Hold the trial once the engine and fuel question, the auger and the operator instructions are settled. Follow JOYWAY's own operating procedure for the quoted build.

  1. Before the trial

Match the engine nameplate, the written fuel correction, the manual and the supplied bit and fitting to the quotation. Agree operator setup and site rules with JOYWAY or the installer.

  2. During the trial

Record hole size, stoppages, handling and the ground. Keep the build and conditions with the results, since another bit or site would give other figures.

  3. Acceptance

Agree pass criteria and inspection with JOYWAY before you start. The catalogue's seven-row table gives no cycle time, torque limit or restart routine.

  4. Handover

Keep the corrected engine sheet, manuals and part numbers with the accepted build. Confirm who supplies parts and technical support.

Comparing quotes and spares

The page offers customisation and promises on-time dispatch, with no terms, warranty or delivery date attached. Add those to the quotation once the engine is identified. Compare complete drilling packages, not codes and photos. This drill is grouped with JOYWAY's other petrol and battery machines in our garden and forestry section.

Buyer questions

Is the GD520 engine four-stroke?

The table says four-stroke and also lists a 25:1 oil ratio. Ask JOYWAY to confirm in writing, with the engine nameplate, spec sheet and manual. [1]

Should I mix fuel at 25:1?

Wait for the manual of the engine actually fitted and JOYWAY's written correction. Then mix as that manual says. [1]

What auger torque does 1650 W give?

JOYWAY lists no rated speed or gear ratio, so torque at the bit is unknown. Ask for the output data. [1]

Which auger diameter is included?

The photo shows an auger but the table lists no size or box contents. Name the bit and package in the quotation. [1] [2]

How long will a 1200 ml tank last?

JOYWAY gives the capacity only, with no fuel consumption. Ask for run time under your working conditions. [1]
