SUCA SC-9601 and SC-9701 Branch-Tying Tools
SUCA sells two different cordless branch-tying tools for vines, tomatoes and other staked plants. The SC-9601 ties up to 25 mm, runs on a 16.8 V pack of 2 Ah or 4 Ah, is rated at 60 W and has a display with a tie counter and adjustable wraps. The SC-9701 ties up to 45 mm, uses a 4.2 V 2.5 Ah battery at 5 W and charges by Type-C. Below are the ratings side by side, the tie counts per charge, the weights, the photo labels, and how to set up a tying trial and a quote.

Build my procurement briefChoosing between 25 mm and 45 mm
SUCA lists a maximum tying diameter of 25 mm for the SC-9601 and 45 mm for the SC-9701. The pages leave open whether that figure covers the stem alone or stem and stake together. Measure the plant and the support you tie, and send both dimensions with your enquiry.
Say what the tie has to do through the season: how firmly it holds, how long it must last and how it comes off. Neither page gives tension, holding time, strap breakdown or removal instructions for a crop. Ask SUCA to recommend the tie material for your plant, then test the tool and tie together on a few rows.
SUCA describes the SC-9701's strap tie as more secure and the SC-9601's wrap count as adjustable. Neither page gives holding-strength figures. Compare the two on your own plants with the tie material SUCA supplies.
Battery, power and controls side by side
The two tools differ in voltage, power and controls. Keep each tool's battery figures with that tool, and judge tying speed and strength on the trial. Ask SUCA for the tool, battery and charger set it will ship for each model. Pack, charger and destination-market document checks for cordless tools of this kind follow the pattern in our page on buying handheld petrol and battery garden tools for import.
| Model | What SUCA lists and what to ask |
|---|---|
| SC-9601 | 60 W rated power; 16.8 V packs of 2 Ah or 4 Ah. The display shows battery level and tie count, and the wrap count is adjustable. Ask for the adjustment range. |
| SC-9701 | 5 W rated power; 4.2 V 2.5 Ah battery. Battery indicator and Type-C port. Ask for the charging voltage, current and charge time. |
| Charger on both pages | A 110–240 V charger input. Confirm the adapter and cable in the box and the charging details for your country. |
| Tie material and kit | Neither page lists tie material, width or gauge, reel length or a full kit list. Ask what comes in the box and which reels fit. |
Ties per charge and a working day
A tie count covers trigger cycles. A day in the field also includes moving between plants, feeding the strap and checking each tie. Measure ties per hour on your own rows.
| SUCA figure | What to check on a trial |
|---|---|
| SC-9601 text | Says one battery manages 12000 ties. Ask which pack size this refers to and how it was tested. |
| SC-9601 table | Lists 2 Ah and 4 Ah next to 7500 and 15000 ties. Ask SUCA to confirm the pairing in writing and explain the 12000 in the text. |
| SC-9701 | Text and table both give 6000 ties per charge. Ask for the tie material and setting used. |
| SC-9601 counter | The display counts ties. Ask how a cycle is counted, and check finished ties separately on the trial. |
| Trial record | Note model, battery, tie material, settings and conditions, the ties that pass, and when the battery or reel ran out. Use this to plan a full shift. |
Weights and handling
The weight columns do not say what was weighed. Weigh each tool ready to work, with battery and reel, before comparing.
| SUCA weight entry | How to compare |
|---|---|
| SC-9601 tool | 850 g machine weight. Ask whether it includes the battery and reel. |
| SC-9601 battery | 260 g and 360 g listed separately. Ask which goes with the 2 Ah and 4 Ah pack and whether the 850 g leaves them out. |
| SC-9701 tool and battery | 550 g machine weight; the battery weight field shows a slash. Ask for the weight ready to work. |
| Handling on your rows | Try reach, access, grip and trigger use on your own plants with the chosen tie. SUCA calls the SC-9601 light and ergonomic; a day's trial shows how it feels. |
Published specifications
Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.
| Specification | Published value | Meaning / limit |
|---|---|---|
| SC-9601 ratings | 25 mm maximum tying diameter; 60 W; 16.8 V 2 Ah/4 Ah [1] | The opening that closes around plant and stake. Strap strength and holding load are separate questions for SUCA. |
| SC-9701 ratings | 45 mm maximum tying diameter; 5 W; 4.2 V 2.5 Ah [2] | A wider opening for thicker stems or posts. Ask for tie strength on your plant and support. |
| SC-9601 ties per battery | Body text 12000; table 7500/15000 [1] | The table pairs with the 2 Ah and 4 Ah packs. Ask SUCA which figure applies to your pack and how it was measured. |
| SC-9701 ties per charge | 6000 per charge, in text and table [2] | Ask for the tie material and setting behind the figure. Hourly output depends on your crew and rows. |
| Controls and charging | 9601: display, counter, adjustable wraps; 9701: battery indicator, Type-C [1] [2] | Ask for the wrap adjustment range and the Type-C input. Both pages list a 110–240 V charger. |
| Photo label | One SC-9601 gallery image is labelled SC-9701 [1] [2] [3] [4] | Ask SUCA for a current photo and nameplate of the model you are quoted. |
Photo labels and the build you order
One image on the SC-9601 page carries an SC-9701 label. It shows a pistol-grip body with a battery pack. The SC-9701 page's own photo shows a lever-type tool with an open head.
Keep each set of ratings with its own page heading, 16.8 V for the SC-9601 and 4.2 V for the SC-9701. Ask SUCA to send the current model and version, a photo of the nameplate and the matching data sheet for the tool you are quoted.
The company introduction names Zhejiang Guyuehu Industry & Trade as the SUCA (舒畅) owner and makes general range and certification statements. Its line also takes in the SC-8602Y electric pruning shears and the SC-8701 greenhouse tomato pollinator, each quoted with its own papers. For either tying tool, request the product documents, the tie consumable and the current operating and service instructions. Agree the model and build before the order.
Tying trial and repeat supply
What you are buying is a good tie on your plant and stake. Agree that result with SUCA and record the exact tool and tie used. Tools for related plant and garden work from other makers are kept in our garden and forestry section. Crop yield and season-long hold come from your own season, so judge them over time.
Tie test
Use typical plants and stakes and agree how firmly ties must hold, allow growth and come off. Check the finished tie and plant contact.
Tie material
Get the tie material, dimensions, reel or pack quantity and which tool version it fits. Order reels by SUCA's reference.
Working duty
Count good ties and battery or reel changes under stated conditions. Note the battery and setting, and ask SUCA to settle the SC-9601 tie-count figures.
Handover and reorders
Keep the model label, data sheet, tie and charger details and the operating and service documents with written replacement and support terms. Ask for warranty length and lead time, which the pages do not give.
Buyer questions
Is 45 mm a cutting diameter?
It is the SC-9701's maximum tying diameter, the opening around plant and support. These are tying tools; ask SUCA for tie strength separately. [2]
Which SC-9601 tie count applies?
The text says 12000 per battery and the table lists 7500 and 15000 next to the 2 Ah and 4 Ah packs. Ask SUCA to confirm the figure for your pack in writing. [1]
How does the SC-9701 charge?
Through a Type-C port. The 110–240 V figure is the charger input. Ask for the Type-C voltage and current and what charging parts come in the box. [2]
Which tool does the SC-9701-labelled photo on the SC-9601 page show?
The label says SC-9701 but the SC-9701 page shows a different body. Ask SUCA for the current label, version and data sheet of the model you order. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Does the SC-9601 counter show good ties?
It counts cycles. Check finished ties against your agreed standard on the trial. [1]
