HAIDAO H18 RHHT-402FC2 Pole Hedge Trimmer
The HAIDAO H18 RHHT-402FC2 is an 18 V pole hedge trimmer with a 410 mm blade on a telescopic pole, for tall or deep hedges you cannot reach with a hand trimmer. HAIDAO lists 30 mm tooth spacing, a 25 mm cutting diameter and 1500 strokes per minute. The pole carries a 960 mm telescopic-length label next to a 2000 mm overall length, and the tool weighs 3.5 kg with one 4 Ah battery. HAIDAO's kit heading lists two batteries (H18B4) and two chargers (H18FC). This page covers the cutting figures, the pole, the battery kit and the points to settle before you order.

Build my procurement briefMatch the trimmer to your hedge
A routine surface trim and cutting back an overgrown hedge are two different jobs. The RHS guide treats trimming as light pruning and sends major size reduction to its renovation advice. It also notes that a powered blade can leave visibly cut leaves on large-leaved evergreens, where hand cutting may look better. That is general gardening advice, and HAIDAO has no finish test of its own for the RHHT.
For a nursery boundary, an orchard shelter belt or a garden edge, note the plant, its current growth, the shape you want and how you reach it. Then ask HAIDAO how the 25 mm figure holds up on old wood and on your leaf type. If you ask for a demonstration, use a representative hedge and the cutting head you will buy, with growth as tough as your real work. For low hedges trimmed at standing height, the H18 SCHT compact hedge trimmers are the shorter option, and the H18 RHBS-402FC2 pole saw takes the same pole approach to branches.
Blade length, tooth spacing and stem size
The 410 mm blade is the length of the cutting bar. It tells you neither the hedge height reachable from the ground nor the finished width per pass. The other figures describe different parts of the cut.
| Published figure | How to use it |
|---|---|
| 30 mm tooth spacing | The gap between teeth. Blade thickness and a replacement-blade drawing are not published. |
| 25 mm cutting diameter | HAIDAO's stem limit, with no species, moisture, load or cutting angle stated. Ask which stems it covers and how the tool copes with tougher growth. |
| 1500 SPM | Stroke rate, with no loaded or unloaded condition and no definition of a stroke. It will not give you metres of hedge per hour. |
| 410 mm blade part | Order by the blade or head part code. Another H18 tool with a similar blade length may not fit. |
Pole length, reach and handling
HAIDAO publishes a 960 mm telescopic label and a 2000 mm overall length without saying how they relate. Adding them to 2960 mm would describe a tool nobody has measured. Ask for the shortest and longest assembled lengths, the extension travel, the lock and the head positions for this model.
The product picture shows the pole, the blade head and a carrying strap. It gives no head-angle range and does not say whether the strap is in the box. The 3.5 kg weight includes one 4 Ah battery, with no balance figure. Ask HAIDAO for handle layout and the supported working positions, then try the tool on your hedge.
The 1530 × 145 × 100 mm carton is a shipping size. Ask how the pole splits for packing, how it is assembled and the packed gross weight.
Published specifications
Read each value with its stated conditions, and ask the manufacturer for any limit not listed here.
| Specification | Published value | Meaning / limit |
|---|---|---|
| Cutting head | 410 mm blade; 30 mm tooth spacing; 25 mm cutting diameter [1] | Three separate figures. Ask which plants and stem conditions the 25 mm figure applies to. |
| Stroke rate and power | 1500 SPM; 18 V; 800 W maximum output [1] | SPM counts blade strokes per minute. The 800 W figure is a maximum, with no continuous rating given. |
| Pole | 960 mm telescopic length label; 2000 × 80 × 170 mm overall [1] | HAIDAO does not say whether 960 mm is extension travel or a length. Ask for the shortest and longest assembled lengths. |
| Weight | 3.5 kg with one 4 Ah battery [1] | Tool weight with one pack fitted. No balance point is given. |
| H18 kit | H18B4 battery; H18FC charger; heading lists two batteries and two chargers [1] | Check box contents, the pack interface and a charger label for your mains supply. No run time is published. |
Battery, run time, noise and vibration
The kit names the H18B4 pack: 18 V, 4.0 Ah, 0.6 kg. Its 2 h figure is charging time, not trimming time. Other makers' cordless pole trimmers in the garden and forestry category show how differently run time gets quoted.
| Published detail | What to ask for |
|---|---|
| H18FC charger | 220 V input, 21 V / 2.0 A output. Request the nameplate and instructions for your mains supply and the approved pack-charger pairing. |
| Two batteries and two chargers | Confirm the counts in the offer. Ask HAIDAO how to rotate packs and any charging or temperature limits before planning a long session on spare packs. |
| 800 W maximum output | No duty curve or continuous rating. Ask for a measured run time under load; dividing pack energy by the peak figure gives a misleading answer. |
| Noise and vibration labels | 104 dB(A) sound pressure; vibration 2.8 m/s² at the front handle, 2.3 m/s² at the rear. Ask for the test method and conditions before planning operator exposure. |

Blade care, delivery and after-sales
The product page gives sizes and kit names but no blade-care schedule or manual. Settle the service parts and support route before shipment. The battery-pack and EU, UK and US paperwork an importer needs for tools like this is set out in our guide to buying handheld petrol and battery garden tools.
Cutting-head documents
Blade and head part code, inspection and maintenance instructions, replacement supply and reassembly steps. Ask HAIDAO for the lubricant and sharpening routine.
Delivered assembly
Record RHHT-402FC2, the pole and head setup, guards or transport cover, carrying items and the H18 electrical parts supplied. Match the manual to that build.
Job trial
Keep a record of the hedge, stem conditions, finish wanted and the handling trial, tied to this head and pole setting.
Export support
HAIDAO's one-year repair policy applies in mainland China, with exclusions and transport at the buyer's cost. Agree overseas repair, parts and freight with the seller.
Buyer questions
Is 30 mm the largest stem it cuts?
30 mm is the tooth spacing. HAIDAO lists the cutting diameter as 25 mm, with no test conditions. [1]
Is the pole 2960 mm long when extended?
HAIDAO does not say how the 960 mm telescopic figure and the 2000 mm overall length relate. Ask for the assembled shortest and longest lengths. [1]
Will it leave a neat finish on large-leaved hedges?
No finish test is published. The RHS notes that powered trimming can leave cut leaves on large-leaved evergreens, so try it on your plants first. [1] [3]
How long does a 4 Ah battery last?
HAIDAO gives no run time under load. The 2 h figure is the charging time. [1]
